Greetings Lady Bledsoe:

I Bro. Michael A. Coleman, finished your book "Custody", on 8/14/2006. I felt the book was very intellectual, educational, spiritual and motivational. An exceptionally well written book. I have nothing but high praise for you and your family. As you have allowed us to enter your personal life with your family has inspired me to an even better understanding as to how a person is not sure of the repercussions that may arise once you make a choice in life. And that you as an adult is not willing to be accountable for that choice, with the understaning of how it may effect the members of said famil. Also, the book brought to my attention how well the family members "circle the wagons", as the say, to rise above the circumstances, turmoil, heartache and pain. Then finally, to win out and make each family member as special as they were meant to be. Very excellent work on a family in crisis, and the survival with the knowledge to have God as the centerpiece, THROUGH-OUT. This is the total testimony of faith, family and love.

I really enoyed the book, in all it's splendor, the good, bad, spiritual and most of all your funny antidotes of laughter. (You know that you have a loud, profane mouth at times. With realisms, take no s**t type of attitude). THis is where the true feelings shine the brightest. Wearings one's emotions on your sleeves. Beautifully portrayed throughout the book. A testimony of true love and adoration for one's family.

Here is my personal congratulations on a job well done and most deserving member of our society, a mother, grandmother and as well as a member of The Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary.

I applaud you Lady Bledsoe. A very heartfelt THANK YOU

Dear Mrs. Bledsoe

I just finished reading your book. It was given to me by JC. I own the heating and cooling service you called to fix your air conditioner and I sent JC. You sold him a copy of your book, and he passed it on to me. Mrs. Bledsoe, I'm trying to run a business. I haven't read a book in years, but JC told me this book was to good to pass up. It was wonderful. You remind me of my mother. She had 15 kids, and she raised us just like you raised Marcy & Sam to be good, fair people and not to judge. I was raised on the westside and we went to Our Lady of Sorrows. My mother was a good Catholic like you. I hope this book makes it big. It crosses all sorts of barriers because it's about real people. I'm white, but we had the same problems in my family. I'm going to call you because I have your number. I need to hear your voice. You are a good lady JC told me. Keep up the good work and much luck to you. You are not alone in this. We went through something like this in my family. I can't say enough about this book. I would like to see it on a TV or movie screen. It's just so powerful. I'm going to stop and call you. My name is Sam, just like your son. I'm not real good on computers, so I'm going to call you. Okay? Sam

Soldier, Julia, Elaine, Mama, Ma, Aunite, and everything else folks call you, have you ever heard of politically correct? You call folks out on your web site. Do you realize you could be offending some readers? Do you care? I believe you do, you care about the real readers. I have never been able to call it the way I see it or even the way it is I just try to get along. But after reading your book, I'm going to try my hand at it. You are really special in many ways. I've told all my friends about your site and your book. I will not share my book. I've told them to buy their own copy. I met you at the National Book Club Conference. You need to get a copyright on your strut. You go girl.

Dear Readers:

Peace be with each of you. As you can see, some folks want to mess up a good thing. I know it's difficult to read some of the junk that is in my guest book. Please get past it. I can't do anything about the people who send this stuff. I will not remove my guest book because the world is filled with ass holes, I just won't, so if you want to leave a comment please do so, and just overlook the garbage. If you know me, or if you read my book, you know I don't like trash,or nasty people, but there are times we must put up with it. This is one of the times. Please return to my site and my guest book as often as you like. May God's peace rain down on you and yours.

Peace Lady Bledsoe:

Even the spam folks want to be in on something good. Your book is amazing even with the errors, (I know with that mouth of yours, someone paid a price for the errors)and your site is beautiful, welcoming and comforting. You are a very funny lady, a bit crazy, but your beauty showed through at the KPC convention and in your book. Your story in many ways touched my life. My family didn't go through exactly what you did, but we did have a "Custody" experience. Hold fast. Sweet-Sweet will never forget Marcy, Mariah, and the rest of the family. Trust this I know, she won't forget and she will be back when she can return on her own. Stay encouraged. Keep your dreams alive and well. Your family traditions are worth perserving and the world needs to know that black families have traditions. You seam to be a lady that's intune with herself. Stay intune. Peace

Lady Bledsoe, I read your book in 2 days if I didn't have to work I probably would have been finished in one.(smile) This book was fantastic. I cryed then laughed and cryed and laughed some more. The ordeal that you and your family went through is unimaginable. God Bless You and Your Family you are a strong faith family. As you said it is only Faith that will bring us through

Missy, you know what,if this book don't sell, it's cause Negroes don't know how to pick a good book. I was at the National Book Club Conference. I was standing next to you when you said "This is for them." Meaning the authors and you didn't walk down the red carpet until after all the "Known Authors" had made their way down the runway. But girlfriend, after they finished, you took to that runway like a natural born model. You owned that bad boy. I laughed until I cried. I purchased your book the next morning. Now do you remember me?

It's cool if you don't. I remeber you, and that's what counts. You are warm, and your eyes showed pride, strength and kindness. And another thang, girl you work that bald head, and dem clothes you were wearing, oh my. I asked you for your hat. Now I know you remember me? Keep keeping girlfriend. I expect big things from you. Dear Julia,

Amen, I just finished reading your book and I must say it was well done. I cried with you, laughed with you and got mad with you. You have really touched my soul and I just had to let you know that this was the best book I read in a very long time. I rode the metra train to and from work all last week and laughed, cried and just got pissed off. I am a co-worker of one of your sister in-laws, Evelyn Bledsoe she too is a very good person. All I can say about this book and you, is you go girl! Love always Debria Williams

P.S. I agree God did not bring you this far to leave!

Was off Da Chain as the kids say. Once I started it, it was so hard for me to put down. THe past few nights included less sleep for me because I was up reading trying to find out what was gonna happen next.

We met around Easter at Darcel's house. We were taking turns killin one of those cakes her sister Lori made. And I recall you had me laughing then as well.

I absolutely loved your book. It just captivated me from the start. I laughed out loud at the things you said, did and threathened to do. Most of all, my heart was truly touched by such selfless acts your family exhibited each and every day thoughtout this faith challenging ordeal. You made me feel like I was there and I was angry when Marcy was arrested and cried when she and Tootie finally came together on behalf of the young princesses.

It was truly heartwarming and inspiring. It is incredibly fulfilling to see such a close knit positive family demonstrate daily what it means to really be there for one another. Please know what a wonderful gift God provided you with to share with all of us. HE knew that only you could have endured this struggle in such a classy kickin ass and taking numbers manner. I can't even fight but your writing had me ready to go toe to toe.

Again, thank-you, thank-you, thank-you! It was simply AWESOME. I felt this book, down to the last word. As a person that enjoys reading, that means a great deal to me. Rather than just seeing words on a page, you made this come to life for me and I am sure, many otheres yet to come,

Peace and Blessings,

Gail

Julia Elaine Bledsoe, may I have your husband? He is the sweetest man I've ever read about. You set the chamber on fire at the Knights of Peter Claver & Ladies Auxiliary Convention. When the Supreme Lady told you that you had two more minutes, and you stopped at mid-stream, I wanted to scream. You were gracious enough to offer to read after the meeting, but we didn't hold you to it. I'm almost done with the book. You are a strong sister, and your husband is the sweetest man I've ever read about. My hat is off to you. You got a good one girl. Keep keeping it real. KPCLA all the way.

Dear Julia Elaine Bledsoe, I was at the booking signing hosted by Melissa Coleman. It was unbelieveable. You have an enormous amount of talent. I truly like your style. You started with an old time gospel song and ended with a song, by the late great Lou Rawls. You never know what another person is going through. I was touched in a way you will never know and I truly appreciate what you accomplished. I went home knowing that I'm not alone. Thank you so much, and keep sharing your voice with the world. I've never read a story like this, but I was up all night reading. Please, please get this story out. Wishing you all the luck in the world.

Julia, today it seems that the bookstores are filled with how to get rich, who's screwing who's husband or man, who's on the down low, etc. How refreshing, a story about a family with values. A story about a family who is honest and will go to any length to keep their word. A love story that affects the entire family as most love stories do. Yes, this is a capitivating story about a wonderful God loving family. I am sure this book will soon be in the bookstores too for the many readers like myself searching for stories that we can relate to, or should I say that relate to us. Continue to be blessed. opbmw

Hi Mrs. Bledsoe,
I just finished reading the last page of your book and it was wonderful!!! Take if from a sister that reads a lot of books!
(Sorry that I missed the signing @ your church on last Sunday, I had a terrible cold.)

Remember, I told you that I know Brenda Matthews, and I saw a little bit of her struggle in your story.

I really believe that God does not give us more than we can handle. (I always think of that when I see homeless men sleep on the cold concrete in winter.)

In my opinion, Tootie did not use your family. While the situation was tragic I believe (like you) that it pulled Marcy thru a horrific event) and it opened a spot in Mariah’s heart for the love of her sister, and it gave Sweet-Sweet the basics that she will need to draw from, when she becomes an adult.

Stay blessed and please be sure and let advise me of your next publication.

PS- Did anyone send a copy of your book to Oprah? I think that this would make a good topic for her show.

Sis, Sis, Sis, nobody ever has, nobody ever will throw a party like you. You had a book signing party. Never heard of a book signing party before you had one. The band was off the chain, the food was off the hook, that champagne punch was talking, the book is the bomb, and you my dear, you dazzled the audience. Who opens up by singing? You. Who closes with a song? You. Where do you come up with this stuff? Sis, you have always been my hero and I love you.Congrats to you and Lawrence. Valerie

Dear Mrs. Bledsoe:

I've admired you from afar for a long time. Your presence at church has always held me in awe. I now no why. Your book goes back to the African tradition of story telling. I could see feel and taste this story. I was at the launch and your cooking is everything you claimed. Who can cook like that and read the excerpt with such passion? You Mrs. Bledsoe, you. This book kept me up all night. I'm going to continue to admire you from afar, and pray that one day you will be on Oprah. This Custody issue is serious, just like you. Keep walking and talking like the queen you are. PS you can cuss. LOL

Greetings Mrs Bledsoe,

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am soo very happy for you and all of the things you have accomplished!! Your website is so serene and welcoming, it's like viewing royalty. I love your first chapter, and will be purchasing your book shortly. I remember reading a draft copy of your book a few years ago, and I immediately fell in love. I think I might have put it down a few times, (and that was just to go to sleep!) It is definitely a page turner and your story -telling ability is so captivating, that you feel as if you are within the moment and are experiencing the emotions that go with it. I will of course recommend your book to all of the readers I know and forward your site to many. You are a magnificent light energy who touches the hearts of all you encounter (I can say that because just being in your presence is humbling to me). May God bless you in all of your ventures in life. You deserve every bit of it! The world needs more people like you who are more than willing to help, lead by example, and not be afraid to dish a little dirt if it will assist someone else.
P.S. -I hope to see you soon here in Atlanta. Please send my love to your family.

Love you much,

And then we met at the KPCLA conference this weekend (April 20, 2006)and it was truly a pleasure. You greeted me as if we were long time friends and I immediately knew that friends we could be. Your pleasant personality and down to earth attitude matches the beautiful smile on your website. I wish you much success and just printed my order form to send for a copy of your novel. Make sure you autograph it for me.
