A newcomer to the World Wide Web, Julia Elaine Bledsoe has made her writing debut with Custody, a testament to God’s love, his grace and even His sense of humor. What makes a writer write? Only God knows. Julia does not question God; instead, she uses cutting-edge satire to be obedient to his word while serving as a living witness to his glory. After a professional career of thirty-two years, in which she began as a secretary and ended as the Director of Human Resources, Julia was led by the Holy Spirit and her creative impulses to express the power and existence of God, in a manner in which all can relate. This wife of William Lawrence Bledsoe; mother of Marcy Bledsoe-Hicks and Samuel Steel-Bledsoe; and grandmother to Mariah, Keita, Benz, Alexandria, Jesika, Janisa, Eddie, Julia, Taylor and Xavier, also serves as a mother figure to many in her church and community. Julia is a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church, Knights of Peter Claver and currently serves as Vice President of Circle of Friends Chapter 5 and Grand Lady of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, St. Agatha Court #146. Why would a person who has managed to balance life, family dinners, church, community, board meetings, and world-wide travel, want to deal with demanding publishers, editors, proofreaders, photographers, and graphic designers, all of whom are possessed with something that Julia calls the Holy Spirit? Why would she put herself through such treatment and turmoil? Why wasn’t she afraid? Well, as Julia’s late father used to say, “Baby, you don’t have enough sense to be afraid.” Her father was right; Julia is not afraid. She realizes that God’s stories need to be told. She may not be a writer in the traditional literary sense of the word, but she has several great stories to tell, illustrated by herself and narrated by God, and nobody can tell those stories, energetically and beautifully, like Julia can. Life is a gumbo of experiences. Julia is not a chef, but give her a pot, skillet, fire, (it doesn’t matter where the fire comes from as long as there is heat) some utensils, and Julia is going to work it out. Is she bragging? Yes. Her cooking is legendary, brimming with love, experience and delicious fervor; she is also confident her readers will feel the same about her writing. May God’s peace and blessings continuously rain down on you and yours, Julia Elaine Bledsoe
